This website is writing\u00a0through your personal issues.\u00a0In that spirit, I’m going to write about my experiences on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n

I’ve gradually come to realize how differently I see the world, compared to most other people, the vast throng of people collectively known as ‘neurotypical’ or NT. It’s an ongoing process.<\/p>\n

What I describe here might enrage you. If so, congratulations! You’ve just experienced a different point of view. It’s a exercise worth repeating.<\/p>\n

But we’ll take it easy and start out with something unambiguously positive.<\/p>\n

A person of low intellect was using abusive language to describe the Special Olympics on the Arnold\u00a0Schwarzenegger’s social media. He was having none of it:<\/p>\n

For anyone reading this without images, here was his response:<\/p>\n

As evil and stupid as this comment is, I\u2019m not going to delete it or ban you (yet) because it\u2019s a teachable moment.\u00a0You have two possible paths ahead. Right now, I guarantee you that these athletes have more courage, compassion, brains and skill \u2014 actually more of every positive human quality than you.\u00a0So take their path \u2014 you could learn from them, and try to challenge yourself, to give back, to add something to the world. Or you can stay on your path, and keep being a sad, pitiful, jealous Internet troll who adds nothing to the world but mocks anyone who does out of small-minded jealousy.\u00a0I know that all you really want is attention, so let me be clear. If you choose to keep going this way, no one will ever remember you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bravo.<\/div>\n
Really, what\u2019s so special about the standard Olympics? I understand the drive for people to excel at something; to devote their life to something for which they’ll\u00a0be remembered. But I have a hard time understanding how shaving a few tenths of a second off the time needed to swim\/run\/jump etc. a standardized distance is equal to a life.<\/div>\n
Which (in addition to genetics) perfectly explains why I\u2019m not an Olympic athlete. Your mileage may vary.<\/div>\n
